ASIC Resistance
ASIC resistance refers to a blockchain-based system preventing ASICs from having a meaningful advantage over other hardware, such as CPUs, when performing network services. Such prevention typically refers to the design of Sybil attack prevention algorithms and other changes to the consensus layer, with the aim of creating a more even playing field between consumer-accessible hardware such as CPUs and GPUs vs. hardware such as ASICs that may be more accessible to capital-rich entities.
