Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is an experimental form of computation that uses quantum-mechanic phenomena to enhance computations. Researchers hypothesize that quantum computers could crack several popular cryptographic algorithms, potentially undermining the security of current cryptocurrencies. Post-quantum cryptography investigates whether algorithms can be made secure from quantum computer attacks. While laboratories have produced small-scale quantum computers, large-scale quantum computers capable of confirming researchers' hypothesis on quantum computing's potential for breaking relevant algorithms have yet to be produced.
