Data availability (DA) in the context of blockchain-based systems refers to the guarantee that network participants, such as consumers, applications, and verifiers, can access transaction data that block producers publish. Many blockchain-based systems, including those that rely on rollups and shards, rely on data availability guarantees to prevent block producers from withholding necessary data and undermining the system's integrity.
