Public-key Cryptography
Public-key cryptography, or asymmetric cryptography, is a means of securely communicating sensitive information that underpins open standards such as Transport Layer Security (TLS) for the internet. Public key cryptography is used extensively in blockchains and blockchain-based systems. Public key cryptography enables encryption and signatures based on a publicly visible key, where the resulting commitment is only decryptable by the person with the associated private key.
