Decentralised Oracle Network (DON)
A decentralized oracle network (DON) combines several independent oracle nodes, each with its own data source(s), to establish an accurate, persistent, and decentralized feed of any arbitrary data.
Decentralized oracle networks may use staking and slashing mechanisms to incentivize honest data attestation. The extent to which an oracle network is decentralized can vary significantly, and the status of decentralization, like with other blockchain-based systems, is never binary. Any assessment of claims and the degree of decentralization would include factors such as cryptographic proof mechanisms, cryptoeconomic incentives, and preventative mechanisms, governance, and more.
