Turing-Complete
Turing completeness refers to a system’s ability to solve arbitrarily complex computational problems. In general, a system is considered to be Turing-complete if it can successfully simulate any other Turing machine, which is defined as a machine capable of executing calculations based on any valid algorithm. In the context of blockchain technology, Turing completeness is particularly relevant when describing Layer 1 networks and the programming languages they employ. Turing-complete blockchain networks can interpret and act upon any ruleset, which allows for the programming and execution of on-chain smart contracts.
