November 3, 2019 Vitalik Buterin analyzes results of Gitcoin Grant’s quadratic funding round.

Gitcoin, a bounty and crowdfunding platform for open source projects, allocated a $100k matching pool of grants to a set of 68 Etherium projects based on a quadratic funding formulat and 1,982 unique contributions that donated an additional $163,279. Quadratic voting saw EthHub, Austing Griffith Ethereum R&D, Lightouse, rDai, and Prysm recieving the larget portions of the matching pool. Compared to the Ethereum Foundation, which is distributing $2 million in grants, the quadratic voting approach likely reflects a more populist and less a technologist perspective on what projects are valuable, speculates Vitalik.
