April 28, 2020 The World Economic Forum publishes its blockchain deployment guide.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) published its blockchain deployment guide on Tuesday that is aimed to encourage the development of blockchain-based supply chains. The body has termed the guide “Redesigning Trust: Blockchain Deployment Toolkit” and has pitched the document as part of its desire to ease the transition of supply chains to blockchain and DLT systems in light of the disruption caused by COVID-19. The document is broad and offers specifics on how to implement such systems, including discussions of privacy, interoperability, governance, and identity among other considerations. Although the WEF was reportedly working on the guide for more than a year prior to the start of the COVID-19 epidemic, its authors state that “The case for blockchain is stronger as the COVID-19 pandemic underscores the need for more resilient global supply chains, trusted data and an economic recovery enabled through trade digitization”.
