January 15, 2020 The UN warns against attending North Korea’s cryptocurrency conference.

North Korea’s upcoming cryptocurrency conference, scheduled for Feb. 22-29th, will likely violate sanctions, concludes a U.N. expert’s report, as reported by Reuters. Reuters’ government sources claim, on condition of anonymity, that “Supporting the DPRK’s use of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, risks violating the Security Council’s resolutions because it would unavoidably increase the DPRK’s ability to subvert sanctions and generate revenue for its weapons programs.” Virgil Griffith, an American cryptocurrency expert, was recently indicted for providing services to North Korea at last year’s conference.
