September 13, 2019 The Libra Association has reaffirmed its commitment to a 2020 launch despite pledges to ban the cryptocurrency in Germany and France.

Bertrand Perez, Managing Director and COO of the Libra Association, said Thursday that the project will maintain its plans to launch by the end of next year. The announcement comes amidst reports that German lawmakers are slated to approve regulations for cryptocurrencies that will “not allow market-relevant private stablecoins” such as Libra. Yesterday, France’s Minister of the Economy and Finance also announced plans to block Libra in France.
