November 22, 2019 South Korea is reportedly planning to invest $382M in blockchain research and development.

Unnamed officials from South Korea’s Ministry of Science and Technology told reporters the agency plans to invest 450 billion won (~$382 million) in blockchain efforts from 2021 to 2026. Projects funded by the Ministry will reportedly focus on creating a “trust base for data sharing.” The investment follows an earlier blockchain investment of 10.5 billion won (~$9 million) from the Korea Internet Security Agency.
