The former CEO of Bakkt, a Bitcoin derivatives exchange, will serve on the Senate Agricultural Committee, which is working on legislation to reauthorize the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and is responsible for approving CFTC nominations for commissioners and chairmen. When asked by the Wall Street Journal about possible conflicts of interest, Loeffler replied that she had “worked hard to comply with both the letter and the spirit of the Senate’s ethics rules and will continue to do so every day” and said “I will recuse myself if needed on a case by case basis…”
