March 30, 2020 Opera adds .crypto domains and expands its cryptoasset purchase feature to several more countries.

Opera, the web browser service, on Monday added support to its Android browser for .crypto websites. The San-Francisco-based, blockchain startup, Unstoppable Domains offers the .crypto domains with 200,000 domains having been registered so far. Opera currently has a userbase of 80 million and the support may drive more interaction with the blockchain-based websites. Also on Monday, Opera announced that users from all 27 EU countries as well as Mexico, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand can now buy Bitcoin and Ether via its Android browser. Until now the feature was available to US users and Opera’s Head of Crypto, Charles Hamel stated that “expanding this feature to more regions is key to driving blockchain adoption”.
