May 21, 2020 New paper highlights the need for US DoD to increase its blockchain military efforts.

A new whitepaper produced by IBM, Amazon Web Services, Deloitte among others warns that the US Department of Defense (DoD) should increase its blockchain and distributed ledger technology military capacity in light of such growing efforts by China and Russia. The Value Technology Foundation think tank coordinated the new document and it includes contributions from multiple organizations, including blockchain companies such as ConsenSys. Specifically, the report highlights China’s ability to engage in “economic warfare” through the development of its digital currency, while it states Russia is focusing its efforts on leveraging blockchain technology for cyber defense. Among the highlighted areas that the DoD could make use of the technology, are improvements in cybersecurity, satellite communications for Space Force through multi-party authentication and supply chain initiatives.
