February 3, 2020 MIT reveals ‘Spider’ crypto payments channel network technology.

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory announced the development of a layer 2 solution similar to Bitcoin’s Lightning Network. In a report released last week, developers claim the technology operates up to four times faster than other payment channels by dividing transactions into smaller “packets,” rather than sending entire transactions at once. A full whitepaper for the project is scheduled to be presented at USENIX Symposium on Networked Systems Design and Implementation at the end of February.
