February 27, 2020 Latest Ethereum Improvement Proposal signals discontent among some in community over ProgPoW.

ProgPoW, a proposed change to Ethereum’s hashing algorithm intended to increase its ASIC resistance, was criticized in a petition and policy paper submitted as an Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP). Critics of ProgPoW claim it lacks sufficient community support, so would increase the risk of a chain-fork. The petition’s signatories include chief officers from notable projects, such as Uniswap’s Hayden Adams, Gnosis’ Martin K√∂ppelmann and Stefan George, Aragon’s Luis Cuende, and Darma Capital’s Andrew Keys, among others.
