IBM, Walmart, Merck, and KPMG have announced that their blockchain-based drug-tracing pilot which tracks pharmaceutical drugs has met the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s objectives. Specifically, according to the corresponding report, the pilot succeeded in showing that blockchain systems can “provide a common record of product movement” and improve patient safety. The trial was conducted between June-December 2019 and ran on Hyperledger Fabric, a permissioned blockchain platform.
