April 3, 2020 Brazilian regulators launch a blockchain platform for sharing governmental information.

On Wednesday, three of Brazil’s financial regulatory bodies launched a new data-sharing blockchain platform, called PIER, aimed at improving financial and economic administration. The platform’s membership currently includes the Brazilian central bank (BCB), securities regulator (CVM) and private insurance superintendent (SUSEP), with PREVIC, Brazil’s social security body planning to also join at a later date. The platform will allow participating agencies to access each other’s data at high speeds, including anything pertaining to political appointments, company sanctions, and corporate investigations.
