December 6, 2019 Bank of China has issued $2.8B in blockchain-based bonds.

Using its own blockchain platform, Bank of China completed the pricing and issuing of 20B yuan ($2.8B) in bonds this week. The blockchain-based bonds were issued for small and micro-sized enterprises, bringing the bank’s total issuance of bonds for such entities to 404B yuan ($57.7B). This is the first such use of blockchain technology in China, the bank claims.
