Arthur Hayes, founder of BitMEX, has stepped down as its chief executive following charges brought against him and others related to the operation of the cryptoasset derivative exchange. Haye’s co-defendant, Samuel Reed, has also stepped down as BitMEX’s CTO. Vivien Khoo, COO of 100x, BitMEX’s parent company, will serve as interim CEO.
