September 25, 2020 A new US bill would regulate cryptoassets as commodities.

The Digital Commodity Exchange Act of 2020 would have cryptoassets regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and introduces “digital commodity exchanges” as a legal category. Under the bill, exchanges would no longer need to apply individually for state money transmission licenses, but rather would be under federal jurisdiction, allowing them to operate in the entire U.S.
